I was born in Montreal, grew up in Ottawa and graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Medical Illustration. I worked for 20 years in the fields of medical and commercial illustration & design in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver. Since 2003 I have studied oil painting, colour theory and composition at the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design and the Vancouver Academy of Art, and have been a student of master painter Paul Chizik.
My artistic influences include Paul Chizik, Canadian portrait artists Frederick Varley and Lilias Torrance Newton, landscape work by the Group of Seven, landscape and figurative work by the Beaver Hall Group, and American painters John Singer Sargent and Cecilia Beaux.
Other than summers spent at Otter Lake Ontario, I live and work in North Vancouver, British Columbia and spend time in the Southern Gulf Islands, just off of the Vancouver mainland, at a small cabin on Parker Island. I am a member of the Portrait Society of Canada, the Portrait Society of America, the Cecilia Beaux Forum and the North Vancouver Community Arts Council.
